What Happens When You Text a Project Keyword

Cities can give some projects their own text keyword — like texting PAVING to get updates on a road project. Here's what to expect when you do.

If you don't have an account yet

1. Text the project's keyword (for example, PAVING) to [City Name]'s notification number.
2. You'll get a link to the project, along with an offer to sign up for alerts about it. You can either go to the app and create an account, or you can reply YES to sign up.
3. From there, we'll walk you through setting up your account — your name, email, address, and how you'd like to be notified — the same way as signing up with ENROLL.
4. Near the end, we'll ask if you want anything beyond updates for this one project: everything, just alert categories, just projects, or only this one.
5. You'll always get updates for the project you texted about, no matter which option you pick — that question just controls what else gets added.
6. Review your answers and reply YES to finish. Check your email afterward to set your password, then visit the resident portal and add it to your home screen.

If you already have an account

You'll get the project link along with a note that you already have an account, and a prompt to open the resident portal app to subscribe to that project from there. Signing up by text only works for phone numbers that don't already have an account — if yours does, subscribing to a new project happens in the app instead.

If you'd rather not sign up

No problem — just don't reply, or reply with something other than YES. You won't get any more texts about it, but you'll still have the project link from the first message if you want to check back on it later.
